The Society of Vineyard Scholars is thrilled to announce the Call For Papers for its ninth annual conference. which will be held on June 19-21, 2018 on the campus of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. We are excited to be hosted by Great Commission Fellowship, a Vineyard church in Wilmore, pastored by Jason Duncan. This interdisciplinary, international conference is for Vineyard folks and “friends of the Vineyard” who like to think theologically in community. All are welcome.

The mission of the Society of Vineyard Scholars is to foster and sustain a community of theological discourse in the Vineyard movement. To the end, you are invited to propose a paper for presentation at SVS 2018. For all details on how to do so, download the Call For Papers today. Proposals for papers, panels, and artwork are due by April 1st, 2018.

The overarching theme of SVS 2018 is “Theology and Place,” inviting consideration of the many diverse ways that the contexts in which we minister – geographical, social, and political – inevitably shape and inform our theological ideas and practices. We offer grateful thanks to the SVS 2018 Program Committee, and particularly to its chair, Thomas Lyons, for putting together this exciting discussion.

While there are many, many exciting details to follow in the coming weeks, we are happy to announce today that SVS 2018 will feature plenary talks from the great Eleanor Mumford, a coordinator of the Vineyard International Executive, as well as from Caleb Maskell, chair of the Steering Committee of the Society of Vineyard Scholars. Also, we are thrilled that Adam Russell and crew from Vineyard Church of Campbellsville (Kentucky) will help to lead worship.

Watch your inbox over the coming weeks for all further details on speakers, hotels, travel, and more. For now, download the Call For Papers and consider how you can contribute to the ongoing theological dialogue among Vineyard folks at SVS 2018.

And, of course, even if you don’t want to propose a paper, make plans to attend SVS 2018 at Asbury Theological Seminary, June 19-21, 2018.

See you there!

Congratulations to the team that put up the Theme. I believe that this is a befitting theme in every sense of the word, given the challenge that believers are encountering in practising their theology as it were in their places. I look forward to seeing and hearing the thoughts of the many of us that will be applicable in our places.
