F.A.Q.’s
Membership in SVS is open to all.
None. Everyone is eligible to submit a paper. However, the papers submitted are judged on, among other things, their scholarly quality. We are looking for papers of the highest academic standards.
The Society of Vineyard Scholars is not merely an intellectual project — it is a deeply relational one as well. SVS is populated by professors, seminarians, Vineyard Regional Leaders, Vineyard pastors, Vineyard church planters, Vineyard worship leaders, and more…all of whom feel called by God to devote time, energy, and money to some scholarly pursuit in the service of their broader vocation in the Vineyard movement. We are committed to helping all comers to “think with the Vineyard” as each pursues his or her own vocational service.
The Society of Vineyard Scholars is not a voice of “official” Vineyard theology. Rather, it is a community of Vineyard people who are working individually and together to think theologically about a wide variety of issues. SVS does not aspire to theological unanimity, but rather to the “unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph 4:3) that enables constructive conversation across lines of disagreement for the sake of the good of the whole church.
