Society of Vineyard Scholars

The Society of Vineyard Scholars is now soliciting papers for its Seventh Annual Conference, “Hospitality, Holiness, and the Kingdom of God,” to be held on April 21-23, 2016 at the Raleigh Vineyard in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

All who like to think theologically about their area of scholarly interest are encouraged to submit a paper to be considered for presentation.

The Program Committee has worked hard to ensure that the SVS 2016 will foster both broad, interdisciplinary conversations on the theme of Christian hospitality and more focused, disciplinary conversations on a wide variety of related topics. We owe them all — and especially Program Committee Chair Bethany Joy Kim — our sincere thanks for their great work.

The broad, interdisciplinary conversations at the SVS 2016 conference will focus around scholarly reflection on the following themes:

  • Hospitality, Holiness, and the Kingdom of God: Bridging Theory and Practice
  • Hospitality and Multiethnicity in the Kingdom of God
  • Hospitality and Public Theology: Equipping the Church to Engage in Public Spaces
  • Hospitality, Worship, and the Arts: Welcoming Strangers, Entertaining Angels

These themes are unpacked in much greater detail in the Call For Papers, along with a variety of additional topics on which the Program Committee is soliciting work. Please be sure to read the Call For Papers carefully as you consider your submission for SVS 2016.

The deadline for submitting papers is January 15th, 2016.

Looks interesting. Thinking about something on the historical Jesus and his table fellowship.
