Abstract:
This study draws on Percy’s (2010) theorization of implicit theology, more specifically defined as “generic, usually unspoken ideas about the theological realm that have a measurable effect on individual and congregational behavior” (Mahan, 2012, p. 15). This studied utilized a qualitative approach to answer the research question, how do Christians describe the action and distance of God? It was found that Christians describe three types of experiences: intangible, tangible and personal experiences. These themes emerged through the manifest descriptions of inner working, outer working, indistinguishable and unclear actions of God.
