Abstract:
With this paper I want to present the results of Kroksmarks readings to a broader group related to the methodologies of Jesus as pedagogue and how that can be taken into the discourse of exploring the pedagogical implications of seeking and witnessing to the Kingdom of God (SVS 2017 Call for papers). In the Vineyard we believe in the centrality of the Kingdom of God, which Jesus demonstrated, claimed, and taught. We look to Jesus as the agent of the Kingdom, but also as our model as a teacher. Jesus made deliberate choices on how to teach in different contexts and settings. The aim of this paper is that Kroksmark’s work will shed light on these choices and pedagogical methods as we seek to answer the question, how we ought to teach in various contexts in the Vineyard.
The short answer from Kroksmark’s work is that following Jesus as a teacher means variation of contexts must be connected to variation of methods. This variation of methods is then a pedagogical implication of the Kingdom of God because it is central to how Jesus chose to demonstrate and teach God’s Kingdom.

Jörn, just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed this presentation at SVS. Very compelling.

This was such a great introduction to the work of Kroksmark and a reminder that pedagogy is a rich buffet of joyous abundance in the hands of Jesus. And hopefully, in our hands as well. Thanks!
