Abstract:

Do you not know? Have you not seen? If the cross is for the nobodies and the nothings and the dark skinned and shows those who think they are something to be nothing at all, and if blessed are the poor and the meek and the persecuted, then oppression and marginality are not simply loci that the privileged and progressive are to intervene in and nullify; the domains of blackness, weakness, brokenness, poverty, despair, and abjection can actually be domains of real spiritual advantage. So continue to minister to the marginalized, but know that on the margins you will find people who are riper for transformation.
