Abstract:

This paper discusses various ways of considering the relationship between Church and Culture, especially as it applies to the Vineyard as a Renewal movement. Niebuhr is discussed, along with new ways of describing the relationship, taken from more recent theorists in other disciplines such as Comparative Studies and Ecological Psychology. The matter of music in the Church is a central theme of discussion, and the general argument is that the rise of 'worship' as a music genre needs critique and thought.
